Malaysia Judge Says Ex-PM Najib Used Financier Low as Proxy

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak used financier Jho Low as a “proxy or agent” in the affairs of 1MDB, a judge said in his ongoing ruling on 25 1MDB-related charges against the jailed 72-year-old. No verdict has yet been delivered.
Judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah said prosecution witnesses were credible and dismissed defense efforts to distance Najib from Jho Low, the fugitive financier widely believed central to the 1MDB fraud. He also rejected Najib’s “Arab donation” defense regarding millions of dollars placed in his bank account, purportedly by the Saudi royal family.
